Overview
- The man entered the water via a slide from a tourist boat at about 1:30pm on Tuesday and quickly got into difficulty.
- Holidaymakers pulled him from the water and performed CPR before Emergency Response and Rescue Corps volunteers arrived.
- He was transported to Mgarr Harbour in Gozo and was pronounced dead on arrival at Victoria Hospital.
- Police said Magistrate Brigitte Sultana has launched an inquiry into the incident.
- The case comes after other serious incidents at Comino this year and alongside a government-backed rehabilitation proposal to relocate vessel operations, expand swimming zones, restore habitat and replace shoreline kiosks, with a separate May cap limiting Blue Lagoon visitors to 4,000 per day.
