British Teen Noiya Sharabi, Her Sister and Mother Confirmed Dead in Hamas Attack in Israel; Father Still Missing

Sharabi family confirmed dead, amidst 1,400 other casualties of Hamas attack in Israel; Father Eli and Uncle Yossi are either missing or held hostage.

  • The Sharabi family, British nationals living in Israel, have been confirmed as casualties in a Hamas attack; 16-year-old Noiya, her 13-year-old sister Yahel, and their mother Lianne were killed, while their father Eli remains missing.
  • The Sharabi sisters were reported killed alongside their British mother in the October 7th attack on the Be’eri kibbutz, an Israeli settlement in Southern Israel. The discovery of Noiya's body was delayed due to the chaos of collecting bodies.
  • Noiya was described by her family as a 'gifted student' who 'embraced every opportunity to help others, particularly those less fortunate than she', while her younger sister Yahel was remembered for her energy, joy, and intelligence.
  • Uncle and brother-in-law to the casualties, Raz Matalon, expressed devastation over the loss and called on UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to show support by visiting Israel, akin to the leaders of Germany, France, and the U.S.
  • Reports suggest that the Hamas attacks have resulted in more than 1,400 casualties, including at least 10 British citizens. The British government has arranged flights to evacuate roughly 500 British residents from Israel.
