British Open Increases Purse to Record $16.5 Million, Winner Earns $3 Million

The Open Championship purse has risen to $16.5 million, nearly double what it was in 2016.
The winner will receive a record $3 million, an 18% increase over 2022.
The prize money increases are part of the R&A's effort to maintain The Open's prestige in global golf.
The R&A has also boosted prizes for the Women's British Open and invested in amateur golf programs.
If over 70 players make the final rounds, the purse will increase even further.
