British Model Modou Adams Sentenced to Seven Years in Peru for Cocaine Smuggling
Adams, a British TikToker, was intercepted with nearly 3 kg of cocaine destined for the UK; authorities say this wasn't his first attempt at smuggling drugs.
- Modou Adams, a British model and TikTok star, has been sentenced to six years and eight months in a Peruvian prison for attempting to smuggle roughly 3 kilograms (6.4 lbs) of cocaine out of the country.
- Adams, 25, was caught with the drugs at Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, Peru, as he was attempting to check into a flight back to London. The cocaine was discovered in a false bottom of his suitcase.
- He pled guilty to the smuggling charges, and his sentencing was accompanied by a fine. The value of the intercepted drugs is estimated to be around £300,000.
- Authorities state that this isn't Adams' first attempt at smuggling drugs – anti-drug prosecutor Lincoln Fuentes remarked he had previously taken drugs out of Peru.
- The UK Foreign Office has verified that they are in contact with local authorities in Peru and are providing support to Adams.
