Overview
- A four-count criminal indictment was unsealed on June 25 by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan charging Kai West with conspiracy to commit computer intrusions, wire fraud and related cybercrime offenses.
- Prosecutors allege West operated under the alias IntelBroker, stealing data from more than 40 victims and selling it for over $2 million, causing at least $25 million in damages.
- Authorities say West led the CyberN[...] hacking group on BreachForums, where he served as an administrator before stepping down in January 2025.
- An FBI undercover purchase of a stolen API key in 2023 and blockchain analysis of cryptocurrency transactions tied back to a UK identity helped confirm West’s role as IntelBroker.
- French police arrested West in February and detained four other suspects this week, and the U.S. is pursuing his extradition to New York for trial.
