British Free Climber Arrested After Scaling 72 Floors of Seoul Skyscraper

A 24-year-old British man identified as George King-Thompson climbed nearly 310 meters up the Lotte World Tower in Seoul with his bare hands before being detained by authorities.
King-Thompson is a known urban climber who was previously prosecuted for climbing The Shard in London and sentenced to six months in jail.
King-Thompson wanted to BASE jump from the top of the Lotte World Tower but was persuaded by staff to stop climbing above the 70th floor.
The climbing incident occurred on Monday, June 12, 2023 and photos were released by South Korea's Songpa Fire Station.
Lotte Property & Development will review whether to make changes to the building to prevent unauthorized climbing in the future.
