Britannia Rated Worst UK Hotel Chain for 12th Year in Which? Rankings

A Which? survey of more than 6,000 guests puts Coaching Inn Group at the top with Wetherspoon hotels recognised for value.

Overview

  • Which? gave Britannia a 44% customer score and just one star out of five for bedroom and bathroom quality.
  • Coaching Inn Group led the large chains with an 81% customer score and an average room price of about £128.
  • JD Wetherspoon placed fifth and was the only chain to earn a Which? Great Value badge, with rooms averaging around £70 a night.
  • Premier Inn fell to seventh in the large-chain table and lost its Which? Recommended Provider status, with an average stay priced at roughly £94.
  • The survey assessed cleanliness, customer service, breakfast quality, bed comfort, value and description accuracy, with InterContinental close behind on 80% but marked down on value given average stays above £300.
