Bristol Mother Charged With Murder in Deaths of Her Three Children

Prosecutors say the case meets the test for trial in the public interest.

Overview

  • The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised three counts of murder against 43-year-old Yasmeen Ali following a lengthy Avon and Somerset Police inquiry.
  • The siblings — Fares, 7, Joury, 3, and Mohammed, 9 months — were found dead after a 999 call to a home in Blaise Walk, Sea Mills, on 18 February 2024.
  • Forensic examinations found all three died from knife injuries, and an earlier inquest recorded chest and neck wounds with possible asphyxia for Fares.
  • Police say Ali remains in the care of mental health services and is due to appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court at a later date.
  • Investigators described the case as extremely complex and asked the public to avoid speculation, and the IOPC determined no investigation was needed into prior police contact.
