Brigham City Remains Identified as Brandy M. Hickey as Police Launch Homicide Probe

A CODIS DNA match after independent lab testing confirmed the identification.

Overview

  • Union Pacific workers found the remains on April 2 near 2600 West along State Route 13 outside Brigham City inside a black trash bag.
  • An earlier public release of a heart-shaped tattoo rendering and clothing images did not generate viable leads.
  • Police developed a DNA profile from the remains through an independent laboratory and matched it in CODIS, then notified Hickey’s family.
  • Hickey had been living in the St. George area, had connections to Salt Lake City, and was last known to be in contact in 2021; she would have been 42 at the time she was found.
  • Due to heavy decomposition, the time and cause of death remain undetermined, and investigators are treating the case as a homicide and asking the public for information.
