Brewers Sign Eric Haase to One-Year Contract

Move comes as Milwaukee seeks to bolster catching depth following Victor Caratini's departure to the Astros.

Eric Haase, a six-year major league veteran, has signed a one-year contract with the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Brewers were seeking a backup catcher to replace Victor Caratini, who recently signed a contract with the Houston Astros.
Haase played 89 games with the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians last season, hitting .201 with a .247 on-base percentage, four homers, 26 RBIs and four steals.
Haase is expected to be the backup to starting catcher William Contreras.
The Brewers' signing of Haase allows them some patience with their other catcher, 21-year-old Jeferson Quero, who is currently No. 2 on MLB Pipeline’s Brewers Top 30 prospects list.
