• The injury occurred on the 13th pitch of a Saturday bullpen session, and Woodruff is being evaluated in St. Louis with findings to be shared with Dr. Keith Meister.
• Manager Pat Murphy described it as a moderate lat strain, with indications it is not related to Woodruff’s surgically repaired right shoulder.
• The IL stint is retroactive to Sept. 18, which keeps him out through the regular season but could make him eligible for the Oct. 4 NLDS if he recovers quickly.
• Left-hander Robert Gasser was recalled from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move and will start Sunday against the Cardinals.
