Overview

  • Former broadcast partner Bob Costas hosted the ceremony featuring Hall of Famers George Brett, Ted Simmons and Robin Yount, with Brewers star Christian Yelich among the speakers.
  • Every Brewers player and coach wore jerseys labeled “UECK,” which are being auctioned on MLB.com to support Wounded Warrior Project, the ALS Association and the Bob Uecker Chair in Pancreatic Cancer Research at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
  • The club renamed the press box’s broadcast wing the Bob Uecker Broadcast Center and updated his medallion above center field to include a microphone and his name.
  • Bob Uecker Jr. delivered the ceremonial first pitch to Yount, the game used commemorative baseballs and bases, and fans viewed ballpark displays of Uecker’s memorabilia.
  • Uecker, the Brewers’ radio voice for 54 seasons, died Jan. 16 at 90 after battling small-cell lung cancer, a fight friends said included chemotherapy sessions shortly before broadcasts.
