Brentford Agrees Fee for Iceland Goalkeeper Hákon Valdimarsson

Valdimarsson set to join Brentford from Elfsborg after beating out competition from several European clubs.

Brentford have agreed a fee for Iceland goalkeeper Hákon Valdimarsson from Swedish club Elfsborg, beating several other clubs in Europe for his signature.
Valdimarsson, who has broken into the Iceland national team and played in their recent matches including European Championship qualifiers, is expected to sign a permanent deal with Brentford after the formalities of a medical are completed.
Valdimarsson could compete for a place in Brentford’s senior team, which recently agreed a deal for David Raya to join Arsenal and drafted in Holland international Mark Flekken.
Brentford have been active in the transfer window, with Sergio Reguilón arriving from Tottenham and Ivan Toney returning after his suspension for breaching betting rules.
The signing of Valdimarsson follows the arrival of Turkish midfielder Yunus Emre Konak from Sivasspor and the loan signing of full-back Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham.
