Breeze Airways Wins FAA Flag-Carrier Status, Unveils First International Routes for Early 2026

The carrier will test demand with low-frequency seasonal leisure routes, backed by a new RDU crew base starting early 2026.

Overview

  • The FAA certified Breeze as a U.S. flag carrier, the first such approval for a U.S. airline in more than a decade.
  • Breeze put tickets on sale for seven seasonal routes to Cancún, Punta Cana and Montego Bay from Charleston, New Orleans, Norfolk, Providence, Raleigh-Durham and Tampa.
  • Service launches between January and March 2026, with Saturday-only flights to Cancún and twice-weekly service on the Jamaica and Punta Cana routes, subject to final government approvals.
  • A new Raleigh-Durham crew base is slated to open in early 2026 with more than 200 pilot and flight attendant jobs to support the expansion.
  • The move follows reported profitability milestones, including a full operating profit in Q4 2024 and a net profit in Q2 2025.
