Breakthrough in Wage Negotiations for Food Service and Confectionery Workers

New agreements promise significant pay raises and improved conditions for workers in the fast food and confectionery industries across Germany.

Workers in the eastern German confectionery industry will see a 10.1% wage increase over 23 months, with the first 5% hike starting in June 2025.
The confectionery agreement also includes a reduction in weekly working hours to 38 with full wage compensation starting January 2026.
Apprentices in the confectionery sector will receive an additional €100 per month starting June 2025, with another €50 increase in July 2026.
Fast food workers at companies like McDonald's, Burger King, and Starbucks could see wage increases of 9.8% to 18.73% if the tentative agreement is finalized.
The fast food agreement, affecting 120,000 workers, proposes raising hourly wages in the lowest tiers to €14.30–€15 by October 2026, with retroactive pay increases from March 2025.
