Breach Data Links Michigan Porn-Ban Sponsor to Fling.com Account

The lawmaker denies the link after journalists used breach databases to match his details to the 2010 profile.

Overview

  • Detroit Metro Times reported that a Fling.com breach record lists an account tied to Rep. Josh Schriver’s AOL email with stated interests including “fetish” and “groupsex,” last accessed in September 2010.
  • The outlet said it verified the linkage using SnusBase and LeakCheck.io and by matching reused credentials, birth month, and an East Lansing IP consistent with his Michigan State University years.
  • Schriver rejected the findings and called the records forged, saying he had never heard of or accessed the site.
  • Fling.com previously confirmed in 2016 that millions of user accounts, including emails, sexual preferences, and IP data, were hacked and sold on the dark web.
  • Schriver’s September bill would outlaw all online pornography, including depictions or descriptions of transgender people, and make distributing such material a felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
