Overview
- Police say Christopher Becerra, 42, was booked Dec. 18 on suspicion of possessing child pornography, annoying or molesting a child, falsifying evidence and witness tampering after a report that he sent inappropriate sexual messages to a minor.
- The Los Angeles Times reports the victims are not Brea Olinda Unified students and were first contacted over social media, and police say an adult witness was threatened, prompting an added charge.
- Becerra serves on the Brea Olinda Unified School District board representing Trustee Area 4, was elected in 2022 to a term through 2026, and previously led the district’s child development services from 2010 to 2018.
- Officials note he also works at Santa Ana College and sits on the North Orange County Regional Occupational Program board, roles investigators say broaden potential contact with youths.
- Superintendent Brinda Leon called the allegations deeply disturbing, said the district is cooperating with Brea police, and reported no known misconduct involving current BOUSD students or staff, while police asked anyone with information to call (714) 671-4469.
