Brazil's Tax Authority Opens Residual Income Tax Refund Query With Payouts Set for Nov. 28

The release targets late filings, returns cleared from audit and older credits, with legal priority groups and users of pre-filled forms or Pix receiving faster processing.

Overview

  • The residual batch covers 214,310 refunds totaling about R$ 494.09 million for IRPF 2025 (tax year 2024) and previous years.
  • Roughly R$ 296.95 million goes to priority taxpayers, including seniors, people with disabilities or serious illness, and education professionals, with additional preference for those using the pre-filled return or Pix.
  • Taxpayers can check eligibility via the Receita Federal site under Meu Imposto de Renda or the mobile app, and view the full processing extract in e-CAC to identify and correct any pending issues.
  • If the credit cannot be deposited, the amount remains available at Banco do Brasil for up to one year, with rescheduling via the BB portal or a later request through e-CAC.
  • The agency reports 3.97 million returns were retained for verification this year, and it has published regional breakdowns of the November residual batch, such as R$ 23.8 million in Santa Catarina and R$ 8.66 million in the Vale do Paraíba region.
