Overview
- In June 2026, Kassio Nunes Marques is expected to assume the TSE presidency and André Mendonça the vice-presidency, succeeding Cármen Lúcia.
- The TSE will conduct the 2026 elections on October 4, with a possible runoff on October 25.
- Mandatory retirements will open seats for Dora Maria da Costa at the TST on March 28 and for Antonio Saldanha Palheiro and Og Fernandes at the STJ on April 24 and November 26, respectively.
- Vacancies at the STJ and TST are filled by a secret-ballot lista tríplice sent to the presidency, followed by a presidential nomination and Senate confirmation.
- An additional TST seat created by Aloysio Corrêa da Veiga’s October 1 departure already has a shortlist delivered on November 11 to President Lula, whose selection will require a Senate hearing.
