Brazil’s Most Tattooed Man Marks Fifth Tattoo-Removal Session, Shares Painful Progress

An evangelical conversion prompted a public effort to undo the ink toward rebuilding his life.

Overview

  • Leandro de Souza posted on Aug. 28 that he completed his fifth removal procedure at Hello Tattoo in Franco da Rocha, which the studio says it performed free of charge.
  • The 36-year-old had covered roughly 95% of his body with more than 170 tattoos and was recognized as Brazil’s most tattooed man at a 2023 expo.
  • He says up to eight sessions may be needed, with three types of lasers used per treatment, including CO2 resurfacing, and each session lasts about 30–40 minutes.
  • Souza describes the process as extremely painful even with anesthesia and has been documenting his recovery and results on Instagram.
  • He links the reversal to seeking formal employment, paying child support, and regaining guardianship of his elderly mother after past struggles that included divorce, drug use, shelter stays, and prison.
