Brazil's First Commercial Orbital Launch Delayed to Dec. 17

The Air Force cited the need to refine signal processing to complete additional safety tests before liftoff.

Overview

  • Força Aérea Brasileira moved the HANBIT-Nano launch from November 22 to December 17 and extended the operation window to December 22.
  • The schedule change followed avionics and telemetry validation that prompted further work on signal processing and added safety verifications.
  • Operation Spaceward 2025 will lift off from the Alcântara Launch Center in Maranhão using Innospace’s South Korean–built HANBIT-Nano vehicle.
  • The partnership model has FAB operating the base, AEB handling licensing and oversight, and Innospace supplying the rocket and engineers, with roughly 400 personnel involved.
  • The mission plans to carry five satellites and three experiments from Brazilian institutions and an Indian partner, including university nanosatellites and an educational payload.
