Brazil’s Central Bank Says R$10.02 Billion in ‘Forgotten’ Funds Remain as Automatic Payouts Debut

Automatic deposits via gov.br accounts paired with a PIXCPF key now simplify claims for eligible users.

Overview

  • The Central Bank reports R$7.8 billion tied to about 49.31 million individuals and R$2.22 billion linked to roughly 4.96 million companies, based on November accounting.
  • An optional automatic request feature is now available for individuals with a silver or gold gov.br account using two‑factor authentication and a PIX key registered to their CPF.
  • Institutions that have not joined the PIX refund term still require manual requests, and joint accounts and estate claims continue to follow existing procedures for heirs and representatives.
  • The SVR portal is the sole official channel to check and request refunds, there is no deadline to claim, and consultations require CPF and birth date for individuals or CNPJ and opening date for companies.
  • Since the program’s launch, R$12.92 billion has already been returned, most individual balances are very small, a PIX key speeds payouts, and the Central Bank warns against phishing and unsolicited contacts.
