Overview
- Since the measure began to be applied on January 9, 323,459 licenses have been renewed automatically, with an estimated R$226.3 million saved.
- Eligibility requires enrollment in the Registro Nacional Positivo de Condutores and no traffic infractions in the previous 12 months.
- Exclusions include drivers aged 70 or over, those aged 50–69 who have already used the one-time benefit, cases with medically reduced validity, and CNHs expired for more than 30 days.
- The renewal is processed in the national database without Detran visits, exams, or fees, with the updated license and a “Bom Condutor” seal available in the Carteira Digital de Trânsito app; a physical card can still be requested for the standard issuance fee.
- Uptake is uneven across states, with São Paulo leading at 86,770 renewals and additional totals reported in Mato Grosso (over 4,500), Amazonas (3,768), Piauí (1,733), and Amapá (570); the measure applies retroactively to December 10, 2025, and the government projects more than 10 million beneficiaries over time.
