Brazilian Police Seize Hundreds of Kilos of Drugs in Multi-State Operations

Overview

• On BR-040 in Juiz de Fora, PRF seized 71 kg of cocaine paste and 104 kg of marijuana concealed under scrap metal, arrested a 58-year-old driver from Mato Grosso, and estimated the load at about R$ 8.5 million bound from Cuiabá to Resende.
• In Marília, PRF stopped a cloned, stolen car and found more than 250 kg of marijuana; the driver reported pickup in Dourados for delivery in São Paulo and remains in custody.
• PF agents on BR-101 between Casimiro de Abreu and Macaé intercepted 13 kg of cocaine paste hidden in a fuel tank, arrested one man, sent the drug for forensics, and continued investigating links from Vila do João to Macaé.
• A highway check near Presidente Prudente located 3.2 kg of cocaine hidden inside a bus seat; a 21-year-old passenger was questioned at the police station and released after testimony.
• Other actions included three preventive detentions for drug trafficking in Teodoro Sampaio after DISE’s Operation Start, a motel theft arrest in Salvador, a supermarket theft and fuel evasion arrest in Cabo Frio, and an estelionato suspect held with 85 cards in Rio.
