Brazilian Influencer Luana Andrade Dies at 29 Following Botched Knee Liposuction Surgery
Reality Star Suffers Cardiac Arrest During Procedure in São Paulo Hospital, Pulmonary Embolism Cited as Cause of Death
- Luana Andrade, a Brazilian influencer and reality TV star, died at age 29 due to complications following a knee liposuction procedure carried out by a private surgeon at São Luiz Hospital in São Paulo.
- During the approximately two and a half hour surgery, Andrade experienced a sudden respiratory event and went into cardiac arrest. The surgery was immediately stopped and she was transferred to the ICU.
- Despite the team's resuscitation efforts, she was later revealed to have suffered from a massive thrombosis - blood clots blocking her veins or arteries. The cause of death was ruled as a pulmonary embolism, a condition typically triggered when a clot breaks from veins in the leg and travels to the lungs.
- Andrade was known for her presence on the reality TV show 'Power Couple Brasil 6' with her boyfriend João Hadad, and was also the owner of a fashion line. She had more than 550,000 followers on Instagram.
