Overview
- The Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (TSE) set an August 20 deadline for voters to request, change or cancel vote-in-transit habilitation, and requests can be submitted online or in person at any cartório eleitoral.
- Vote-in-transit is available only in state capitals and municipalities with more than 100,000 registered voters, which limits where the service can be used.
- If the transit vote is within the voter’s home state they may vote for all offices on the ballot, while a transit request for a city in another state permits the voter to cast only a presidential vote.
- Voters with registration recorded abroad may request transit voting when passing through Brazil but only for president, and Brazilians registered domestically cannot use transit voting from outside the country.
- After August 20 no modifications will be allowed and any voter who misses their designated transit polling place must submit an absence justification through the e-Título app; the guidance is a time-sensitive reminder rather than a change in rules ahead of the Oct. 4 first round and Oct. 25 potential second round.
