Brazil States Publish IPVA 2026 Calendars With Discounts and Installment Options

Three major states have set IPVA 2026 rules, with differences in discounts, installment limits, exemptions, payment options.

Overview

  • In São Paulo, payments with a 3% discount run by plate final from January 12 to 23, with up to five installments through May, and from February the tax must be paid in a single, non‑discounted quota.
  • São Paulo accepts Pix via a QR Code generated on the Sefaz‑SP site or traditional banking channels using the Renavam, and late payment can lead to a 0.33% daily fine, a fixed 20% penalty after 60 days, and registration in Dívida Ativa and Cadin.
  • Goiás begins collections on January 15 with an 8% one‑time payment discount on that date, allows up to 10 monthly installments, and forecasts R$ 4.02 billion in 2026 IPVA revenue.
  • Goiás lists exemptions for vehicles 15 years or older, people with disabilities and certain small motorcycles, applies a 50% reduction for popular cars up to 1.0 and motorcycles up to 125 cc, and offers up to 10% extra abatements via Nota Fiscal Goiana.
  • Mato Grosso sets alíquotas from 1% to 4%, exempts PCD vehicles, taxis, app drivers using GNV, vehicles over 18 years and new units bought from MT dealers, grants 5% or 3% early‑payment discounts by the 10th or 20th of the due month, permits up to eight installments, schedules due dates from March to October, and adds up to 10% via Nota MT capped at R$ 700.
