Brazil Starts Gov.br Passport Expiration Alerts Through Caixa Postal

Overview

• The Ministry of Management and Innovation and the Federal Police activated passport-expiration notifications on Nov. 12, 2025.
• Users receive personalized alerts eight months before expiry, three months before expiry, and again once the document has expired.
• Viewing alerts in the Gov.br mobile app requires Silver (Prata) or Gold (Ouro) account levels, while other users can check the messages on the website.
• The government expects to send reminders to more than 1.9 million people in 2026.
• Caixa Postal has operated since February and has delivered over 30 million personalized messages across services such as Enem, Meu SUS Digital, and Meu INSS.
