Brazil Starts Automatic Payouts of Retained FGTS as PIS/Pasep Sets 2026 Dates and 2025 Window Closes

The first credits post now under a provisional measure, with remaining FGTS balances scheduled for early February.

Overview

  • Caixa began the first phase of payments on December 29, crediting up to R$ 1,800 per linked FGTS account to workers who chose saque‑aniversário and had contracts suspended or ended between January 1, 2020 and December 23, 2025.
  • About R$ 7.8 billion will be released to roughly 14.1 million workers in two stages, with the second phase paying remaining balances from February 2 to 12 under a staggered schedule.
  • Credits are automatic to bank accounts registered in the FGTS app, covering an estimated 87% of beneficiaries; cases with judicial blocks, alimony attachments or avulso workers may require agency procedures, and amounts pledged in advance‑loan contracts cannot be withdrawn.
  • Workers with termination by mutual agreement may withdraw 80% of the eligible balance, and payments remain available only while the provisional measure is in force.
  • Codefat approved a fixed PIS/Pasep calendar for 2026 with deposits on the 15th from February to August and shifted the abono income ceiling to INPC indexation (around R$ 2,765.93 for 2024), while the regular 2025 withdrawal period ended today with about R$ 145.7 million unclaimed.
