Overview
- Separate wrecks reported across several states left multiple people dead and dozens injured, with cases spanning Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Mato Grosso, Bahia, Sergipe, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Ceará and Pará.
- Heavy-vehicle incidents dominated: a rear-end crash between cement trucks on the BR-230 in Santa Rita (PB) left a 34-year-old driver trapped and later stable after surgery, a bus and a carreta collision in Moreno (PE) injured 16, and a travel bus rollover in Taquaral (SP) injured 13.
- Fatalities included a car–carreta crash on the BR-163 in Sorriso (MT), a businessman killed in a car–bus collision in Feira de Santana (BA), a motorcyclist struck after losing balance near a bus in Belo Horizonte (MG), and separate deaths on the MGC-265 (MG) and SP-321 (SP).
- Possible infrastructure issues feature in inquiries: PRF cited a pothole or displaced asphalt as a hypothesis in a deadly BR-369 crash in Paraná, and a marble-laden truck that hit a house in Sertânia (PE) was reported to have lost control after encountering road defects, injuring five.
- Police actions advanced: breath tests were negative for some involved drivers, one suspect in Paraíba’s BR-104 fatal hit-and-run presented to authorities, a Paraná motorist was arrested after refusing a breathalyzer, and video from Guaratiba (RJ) is being reviewed as evidence of risky driving.
