Overview

  • The Ministry of Transport says automatic renewals have reached 323,459 nationwide with an estimated R$226 million saved by drivers.
  • Renewals are processed by Senatran via the CNH Brasil/CNH Digital app once the license expires for eligible motorists in the RNPC.
  • Eligibility requires a clean record over the previous year and RNPC consent within the app, which is accessed under Condutor > Cadastro Positivo.
  • The policy excludes drivers 70 or older, limits those 50 or older to one automatic renewal, bars cases with medically reduced validity, and does not cover licenses expired more than 30 days.
  • Only the digital license updates automatically; a physical card must be requested separately and may carry a state fee, with São Paulo leading renewals (86,770) followed by Minas Gerais (35,771) and Rio de Janeiro (29,343), and regional tallies such as Bahia (15,226), Ceará (11,798) and Rio Grande do Sul (18,239).
