Brazil Opens 2026 Military Enlistment, With Voluntary Slots for Women

  • Registration runs nationwide from January 1 to June 30 for those turning 18 in 2026, with online filing via Alistamento Online requiring a Gov.br account and in-person service at local military boards starting January 2.
  • Women may volunteer for the second year with 1,467 vacancies allocated across the forces: 1,010 in the Army, 300 in the Air Force and 157 in the Navy, distributed in 145 municipalities in 21 states and the Federal District.
  • Men who fail to enlist face a late fine, delayed selection to the following year and blocks on passport issuance or renewal, university enrollment, public-service exams and government contracting.
  • After registration, candidates must monitor notices for the general selection in the second half of 2026, with service beginning in 2027 for one year and possible annual extensions for up to eight years subject to conditions.
  • Those without internet can register at a Junta de Serviço Militar with original ID and proof of residence, and people seeking medical exemption must present reports with diagnosis and CID code signed by a physician, with legal representation allowed when attendance is impossible.
