• From Sept. 16, 37 cities are hosting cleanups, workshops and educational activities, with volunteer registration available on the Instituto Limpa Brasil website.
• On Saturday at 7 a.m., 22 cities will run mutirões across plazas, rivers, mangroves, beaches and pipeline corridors.
• At Praia do Flamengo in Rio, Marina da Glória and Projeto Tatuí will award scholarships to the 15 volunteers who collect the most debris.
• On Ilha da Gigoia, the Rio ao Mar kickoff targets the heavily polluted Lagoa da Barra with a 9 a.m. to noon cleanup, with sign-ups via the project’s Instagram.
• Organizers emphasize education rooted in circular-economy practice, with proper disposal and reusable items sent to associations of pickers and recyclers; last year’s drive collected more than 1,200 tonnes in Brazil.
