Overview
- ANAC replaced its June 20 order with Resolution 17.686 published on August 15 in Brazil’s Diario Oficial, lifting limits on Aerolíneas Argentinas’ growth plans.
- The June sanction barred new bases and frequency increases at the airports of Brasília, Rio de Janeiro–Galeão, Salvador, Curitiba and Florianópolis while allowing existing services to continue.
- Aerolíneas said the issues were exclusively documentary from earlier years, not related to operational safety, and that it satisfied the regulator’s requests in under 60 days.
- With the restriction removed, the carrier can again seek added frequencies and new routes in Brazil, its largest international market.
- The airline operates about 88 weekly flights to Brazil; media also reported a roughly US$35,000 fine and cited alleged record-keeping irregularities not presented as safety findings.
