Overview
- Operations began on November 24 with roughly 1 million families eligible across Belém, Belo Horizonte, Fortaleza, Goiânia, Natal, Porto Alegre, Recife, Salvador, São Paulo and Teresina, with about R$94 million earmarked for this first phase.
- Caixa is distributing digital vouchers, accrediting retailers and validating redemptions at the point of sale, and beneficiaries can authenticate with a Bolsa Família chip card, a Caixa debit card or a CPF plus a code sent to their phone.
- Eligibility is automatic for CadÚnico households earning up to half the minimum wage with records updated within 24 months, with priority for Bolsa Família recipients, and the previous Auxílio Gás cash benefit is being phased out in December.
- Families of two to three people receive four refills per year valid for three months each, and households of four or more receive six refills per year valid for two months, with benefits not accumulating between periods.
- The government revised state reference prices for the 13kg cylinder in ten states to align with ANP data, and the rollout adds Rio de Janeiro in January 2026 before broader expansion toward 15 million families by March.
