Brazil Intensifies Multi-State Offensive on PCC and CV as São Paulo Targets Suspects in Ex–Police Chief’s Execution

Forensic links and financial targeting are driving fresh raids, arrests and asset freezes across several states.

Overview

  • São Paulo’s Civil Police launched a Friday operation to capture suspects in the killing of former delegado-geral Ruy Ferraz Fontes, serving six search warrants and two arrest warrants in the capital and interior.
  • Authorities attribute the crime to the PCC; four suspects are in custody and four remain fugitives, including Felipe Avelino da Silva (“Mascherano”) and Umberto Alberto Gomes, linked by DNA and fingerprints to vehicles and safe houses.
  • The IML found Fontes was struck by at least 12 rifle rounds, with 5.56 mm and 7.62 mm calibers identified, as DHPP and forensic teams finalize reports that support additional warrants.
  • In Minas Gerais, Operation Custos Fidelis targeted a CV-backed wholesale trafficking and laundering structure, with 48 arrest and 84 search warrants across MG, AM, RJ and ES, 19 arrests, drugs and weapons seized, eight vehicles taken and a R$ 3.9 million property in Maceió blocked.
  • Investigators report the network used police uniforms and heavy arms to intimidate rivals, and separate actions — including a Viçosa raid that left an alleged local leader dead and under review — advanced related probes.
