• Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office opened an inquiry into a possible criminal origin of the fire in São José do Rio Preto after four men were found in the burned area and questioned.
• In Rio Preto, multi-agency teams used an agricultural airplane and a Military Police Águia helicopter, with trucks refilled from a local reservoir due to difficult ground access.
• The Rio Preto fire has burned more than 50,000 square meters of vegetation since it began on September 29, and officials warn heat, low humidity and winds could intensify conditions.
• In Goiás, roughly 100 responders are working in rotating 24-hour shifts to contain three active fire lines over more than 1,800 hectares near Cavalcante, still outside the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park.
