• Law No. 15.231/2025 was published on October 7 in the Diário Oficial da União and took effect on the same day.
• The measure amends the LDB and Law No. 13.819 to promote notification and to improve collection and analysis of data on self-harm, suicide attempts, and suicides across education, health, and forensic-medical institutions.
• Schools must notify the municipal Conselho Tutelar about incidents of violence involving students, with emphasis on self-harm, suicide attempts, and suicides.
• Schools are also required to submit lists of students whose absences exceed 30% of the legally permitted threshold.
• Institutions nationwide now need to establish procedures to meet the new legal duties, including reporting workflows and data practices.
