Brazil Authorizes 150 Appointments for Nuclear Safety and Research Bodies

Actual naming of candidates awaits vacancy confirmation plus a budget adequacy declaration by the two agencies.

Overview

  • Portaria No. 11.168/2025, published in the Diário Oficial da União on December 15, authorizes the appointment of candidates previously approved in a federal concurso.
  • Of the 150 authorized appointments, 50 are allocated to the Autoridade Nacional de Segurança Nuclear (ANSN) and 100 to the Comissão Nacional de Energia Nuclear (CNEN), spanning higher- and intermediate-level roles.
  • Role breakdown reported includes, for ANSN: 38 tecnologistas, 8 técnicos, and 4 pesquisadores; for CNEN: 42 tecnologistas, 25 analistas em ciência e tecnologia, 22 técnicos, and 11 pesquisadores.
  • The order conditions each appointment on the existence of a vacancy at the time of nomination and on a declaration by the responsible budget officer that the expense fits the LOA and is compatible with the LDO.
  • ANSN and CNEN are tasked with verifying those conditions and issuing the necessary editais or portarias before nominations proceed, with the MGI saying the move strengthens oversight, safety, and nuclear research capacity.
