Robert Suárez was activated Friday and is expected to appear in two of the Braves' final five regular-season games after a controlled rehab ramp.
He threw one scoreless inning for Triple-A Gwinnett in his rehab outing, allowing one hit and striking out one while his fastball topped out at 96.9 mph.
Before the elbow issue that sidelined him in late June, Suárez had a 0.56 ERA in 31 appearances with 12 holds and four saves for Atlanta.
The Braves opened a 40-man roster spot by optioning prospect Owen Murphy to Triple-A, preserving Murphy’s development as a starter while giving Atlanta short-term bullpen depth.
Suárez’s activation restores a high-leverage option alongside closer Raisel Iglesias and adds tactical late-inning flexibility that the team plans to manage carefully before the playoffs.
