Acclaimed Jazz Musician to Continue Father's Legacy in New Orleans Music Education

Branford Marsalis, acclaimed jazz saxophonist and composer, has been named the new artistic director for the Ellis Marsalis Center for Music in New Orleans.
The center, named after Branford's late father and renowned jazz musician, Ellis Marsalis, serves as an education and community center, providing music and cultural education programs.
The center is part of the Musicians’ Village, a housing development for displaced musicians after Hurricane Katrina, which was spearheaded by Branford Marsalis and fellow musician Harry Connick Jr.
Branford Marsalis aims to continue his father's legacy of music education, emphasizing the discipline and philosophy of music as tools for personal growth and development.
The center also features a recording studio, classrooms, a dance studio, and a computer center, teaching a wide range of skills in the music industry.
