Brandon Jones Wins Kansas Xfinity Playoff Race, Clinches Round of 8 as Zilisch Sets Record

Jones’ clinch puts the focus on a razor-thin cutoff entering the Charlotte Roval.

Overview

  • Starting from the pole, Jones led 54 of 200 laps and beat Connor Zilisch by 2.787 seconds for his third Kansas and seventh career Xfinity win.
  • Zilisch’s runner-up finish extended his streak to a series-record 16 consecutive top fives and locked him into the next round on points.
  • Justin Allgaier swept the first two stages and led the most laps, but a late stay-out on older tires left him 13th, and he still advanced on points.
  • The top five were Jones, Zilisch, Austin Hill, Sammy Smith and Sheldon Creed ahead of next Saturday’s Charlotte Roval cutoff.
  • Jesse Love holds the final transfer spot, with Nick Sanchez (-5), Hill (-7), Harrison Burton (-8) and Smith (-14) below the line, and contact from Sanchez sidelined Justin Bonsignore and hurt the No. 19 in the owners’ standings.
