Overview

  • The state government’s four focus areas are renovation and expansion of roads, bridges and public buildings, investment in hospital infrastructure, strengthened wildfire and disaster protection, and support for sports and community associations.
  • Under the federal allocation formula, Brandenburg will receive nearly €3 billion—about €250 million per year over twelve years—from the €500 billion special fund.
  • A draft implementing law tabled by the federal cabinet in early July is on hold during the summer recess and must clear parliament and legal review before funds can be released, likely by mid-October.
  • Premier Dietmar Woidke emphasized that projects will move forward swiftly in partnership with municipalities and with minimal bureaucracy once funding is unlocked.
  • Brandenburg municipalities and Health Minister Britta Müller have proposed further investments in school digitization, medical care centers, heat protection in nursing homes and expanded day and short-term elder care.
