Overview

• The program is open to student teachers from their fifth semester onward.
• Twenty fellowships are available, each providing a €600 monthly stipend from the upcoming winter semester.
• Scholars must complete a practicum, a practical semester and the formal preparatory service at participating rural schools.
• In return for the funding, recipients commit to teaching at the same designated rural schools after they finish their studies.
• The scheme builds on broader regional efforts, including Sachsen-Anhalt’s Weltenretter scholarships, to alleviate rural teacher shortages.
