Brandenburg Launches Autumn Campaign to Attract Western Movers With Minister Helping Carry Boxes

The effort uses increased marketing funds to pitch the state as Germany’s top internal migration destination.

Overview

  • Landesmarketing sent a written offer to 102 companies, ten universities and colleges, and four school authorities outlining the move sponsorship.
  • The offer promises to sponsor a relocation from the old federal states to Brandenburg and says Economics and Labor Minister Daniel Keller will help carry boxes on moving day.
  • A ministry spokeswoman said the campaign is drawing many very positive reactions and initial messages from people willing to move from western Germany.
  • The initiative is framed as promoting Brandenburg as Germany’s number one destination for internal migration.
  • The marketing budget rose from €800,000 to €1,000,000 this year, and the campaign cites an April survey of 1,600 people showing rising sympathy for Brandenburg across East and West, following prior tongue-in-cheek themes in 2023 and 2024.
