- Jusos state chair Leonel Richy Andicene called for a change in the party’s political style with more visibility in clubs, youth centers and neighborhoods.
- A September survey by Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung, Märkische Oderzeitung and Lausitzer Rundschau put the SPD at 24 percent and the AfD at 34 percent in Brandenburg.
- In Potsdam, SPD candidate Severin Fischer received about 17 percent in the first round and advances to a October 12 runoff, after independent Noosha Aubel led with 34 percent.
- In Frankfurt (Oder), SPD candidate Simona Koß was eliminated in the first round, while in Hennigsdorf SPD’s Thomas Günther nearly reached 50 percent.
- The SPD will not field its own candidate in every remaining mayoral election this autumn in the state.
