Brampton Striking City Workers Reach Tentative Agreement

The deal, pending ratification, aims to end a strike that disrupted key city services for nearly a week.

Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown announced a tentative agreement with CUPE Local 831, representing approximately 1,200 city workers.
The agreement covers multiple bargaining units and is set to last from April 2024 to March 2027, pending ratification.
The union, which has been without a contract since April, sought wage increases and benefits parity with management.
The strike, starting last Thursday, significantly disrupted public transit and other city services, including road maintenance and bylaw enforcement.
A ratification vote is scheduled for November 15, with workers expected to return to their duties by November 16 if approved.
