Overview

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the BrahMos Integration and Testing Facility in Lucknow on May 11, 2025, as part of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor.
  • The facility, completed in 40 months on 80 hectares of free land provided by the state, will manufacture 80–100 BrahMos missiles and 100–150 next-generation variants annually.
  • The project has already created 500 direct jobs and 1,000 indirect jobs, with additional opportunities expected from four new manufacturing units under development.
  • The BrahMos missile, a joint venture between India’s DRDO and Russia’s NPOM, is a supersonic cruise missile with a range of up to 400 kilometers and multiple platform capabilities.
  • The corridor aims to position Uttar Pradesh as a hub for defence production, with 180 MoUs signed for ₹34,000 crore in investments, of which ₹4,000 crore has been realized so far.
