Brahmaputra Board Fast-Tracks Master Plans for 15 Northeast River Sub-Basins

Overview
- The Board is drafting and updating integrated master plans and DPRs using state-of-the-art tools to address chronic flooding and erosion across the region.
- Current work spans sub-basins including Dikhow and Jhanji, Dikrong, Kolodyne, Tuichang, and ten Meghalaya rivers such as Kynshi, Umngot and Simsang.
- A multi-agency committee featuring state representatives, CWC, NESAC, Survey of India, GSI and academic institutions is steering preparation and prioritisation.
- Consultations with basin states are underway, Requests for Proposals have been issued, and stakeholder inputs are being incorporated at each stage.
- Draft RFPs have been prepared to extend planning to rivers including Teesta, Sankosh-Raidak, Dhansiri (North), Feni, Muhuri and Gumti, with HPRB urging nature-based pilot projects and capacity strengthening.
