Overview

  • Bradley John Murdoch died at age 67 in the palliative care unit at Alice Springs Hospital after a long battle with terminal throat cancer.
  • He was serving a life sentence for the July 2001 ambush and murder of British backpacker Peter Falconio and the assault and attempted kidnapping of Joanne Lees.
  • Despite extensive searches across the outback, Falconio’s body has never been found and Murdoch consistently refused to disclose its location.
  • Under the Northern Territory’s 2016 “no body, no parole” law, Murdoch would have remained ineligible for release without revealing where he disposed of the remains.
  • On the 24th anniversary of the killing, Peter Falconio’s father, Luciano, issued a public plea for any information that could finally bring closure to the family.
